Red Beach, Auckland
Due to odour issues associated with the existing wastewater network. CDS were engaged to carry out the preliminary design of a new wastewater pipeline to reduce flow though the affected pipeline. This included a Civil 3D design, geotechnical review, archaeological assessment, installation methodology, construction footprint design and stakeholder liaison.
The existing and proposed pipeline crosses nine private properties. CDS considered the impact of construction on these properties in the trenchless design process and maintained communication with the owners throughout.
The surface topography of the site required consideration of installation pressures and guided the installation method. Areas of fill to achieve required cover were identified and communicated to property owners.
The area was known to span archaeological sites identified in previous projects. CDS engaged with specialist consultants to ensure the proposed HDD design did not impact the extents of known archaeological locations.
